My darling Mary,

Dear one, do forgive me, I am so very, very, very, tired. I can't
think how I made the mistake about Thursday. Can't you come to me on
Tuesday afternoon. I'll try & come out & see you tomorrow evening but
I'm not sure that I can.

I got some beautiful letters & poems by last mail. I send you one. I'm
so grateful to people for being so good to me. You are all so good;
its so wicked of me to be so tired of everything I shall be all right
when I get back to Matjesfontein & throw myself into some big work,
not all these little things.
