The Project is grateful to the Library of Parliament, Cape Town, for kindly allowing us to transcribe this Olive Schreiner letter, which is part of their collections.
Dear Mr Hunt

Thank you more than I can say: it is really too good of you to have
taken this trouble for me. I feel it so selfish that the officer
should give up his ?kab cabin to me & go below; but it is n’t a case
of seeking pleasure or enjoyment. I shall be so grateful to have it
over in a fortnight.

I am very glad I am going with Captain Robinson. He is my favourite of
all the Captains. I went out with him four years ago. I don't suppose
he remembers me, but he was wonderfully kind to me.

Thank you so much. Please give my best & loving wishes for her good
health to your wife. I don't know if I told you that I am going to buy
a little farm up country - high up - & settle down there. If ever you
do come out to the Cape you must both come & see me. I am sure Mrs
Hunt made a mistake in not going high enough.

Yours very sincerely,
Olive Schreiner

I shall send the cheque next week when I come to Town.
