Dear Laddie Thanks for note. I also have got no Cape letters; hope for
them to-day! Alice got one cape letter on Saturday night so the mail
is in. I dined with a beautiful & delightful little American friend of
mine at her Hotel in Jermayn Street last night. She would like to meet
you. I should like to arrange this a meeting if you come. She’s, to
my mind, the finest American woman I ever met. She has two charming
tiny children. She is one of the many delightful people I met in
Florence. I am going to tea with Lady Francis Balfour tomorrow. She
has just heard that her son

^is wounded at the front. ^
