My old Brother

I would have come to see how you were yesterday, but I feared I might
just be disturbing you.

I had a little pot of honey & beaten up yoke of eggs & oil, which I
had prepared for you, in my bag on Sunday & some medicine I always
take but I didn’t dare to produce it!!

I know how tired one gets of trying things but I am "past master" in
our sort of troubles.

I have been feeling anxious about for a long time, but haven’t liked
to say anything. Some day you will try my electricity & my "Tucker,"
but what I want you to do is to take things in time, lest you also
"come to this place of torment."

I know Ol is lying across your heart all the time: so he is across
mine.

There is a too late in disease just as in politics. If I had had
electricity & tried Tucker 15 years ago all would have been different.

Good bye, dear. I’m always thinking of you. No one who has a strong
heart can understand the awful depression which a weak heart carries
with it.

How little we can really do for each other in this world.

My land ladies little boy is very ill with pneumonia & I am helping
her to nurse him. It is quite a comfort to feel I can be a little help
to the dear child. He’s an only child.

Good bye. Your small sister
