Dear Laddie,

Young Alfred Luscombe, who is engaged to my great friend Andre Murray,
Haldane Murray’s daughter, has just been to see me: he arrived from
South Africa yesterday. He suffers from internal trouble & has had
three operations so he can’t go to the Trenches, but wants to find
war work. He can drive motors

He is going to your office tomorrow (Tuesday) He didn’t ask me to
write to you. He said you were so busy, he only expected to see your
secretary, but I write this on my own account to ask you to give him
any advice you can. He seems a nice loveable fellow, & very anxious to
do something to help.

If you had a moment to spare, & could see him when he calls, I’d be
so glad
