My dear Laddie

I tried to get that little book “German Social Democracy during the
war,” by Bevan for but none of the book sellers have got it. They
are boycotting it I think. So I’ve written to the publisher to send
you a copy. It’s a little New Year love token from me. I do hope you
have heard from our boy.

I thought you did not look well on Sunday, & also as if something
special was pressing on you. I can imagine several things that are
doing so; but I may be wrong.

How little we can really do to help each other, but my love is always
with you.
