5Its three weeks to day since I had any news of you dear people I hope
6you had a good time at Broad stairs with the boy.

8I’ve been very ill dear. The week before last I thought the end had
9come but I am better the last three days. If anything should happen to
10me, dear, you will find my money & all little valuables I have in the
11square yellow hat box. I have two keys to it. I will give you one when
12next we meet I have not yet been able to find quarters. No one will
13have me with a German name. I hope all goes well with my old
14sister’s ears.
