Dear Lucy

Your note came yesterday & your blotter came this morning, the one
Xmas greeting the post brought me to-day. I hope you are having a good
Xmas with the dear children. It was sweet of you to think of me &
write. Never before has a little word of love meant so much to me as
now. I hope the dear little daughter is quite big & strong now. How
are you feeling?

I have been in bed all day but have got up to write these words, it
seems to bring me nearer you. It seems a long long time since that
Happy Xmas I spent in London a year ago feeling so much better.
