Dear Friend

I am so glad you two are having such a good time a Dieppe. I have so
wished to know more of France. I know well only Paris & the country
round & the quite south. I spent once a very delightful winter at
Clarens on the lake of Geneva. I wonder if if you will go there. My
brother Will & the Pethick-Lawrences arrived by last Tuesday’s
steamer. The Lawrences are coming to Hanover to see me in two weeks
time; won’t that be lovely for me. The dear Purcells are to arrive
here too next week for a few days. The Government has asked if I will
stand act on the Hanover School Board as a government ?nominey when
the great new school boards come into being all over the country at
the end of the year & I have said I will. The new education act that
was passed last year will make all things educational quite different
in this colony.

We are thinking of starting a big first class boarding school here (we
have only a second class now) & I have wondered sometimes if this new
order of things might open work you would like for yourself & Miss
Greene
. I do hope you have heard something of the PO order. fr

^You seem not to get so many of my letters, & Miss Greene too & my
letters to no one else go astray. Do they perhaps get mislaid by the
servants at Harston? The PO order as I told you in my last was made
payable at Cambridge Post Office: & my letter to you containing it was
registered I think but I can’t find the registered counterfoil. Find
out if anyone cashed it at Cambridge. ^
