Schreiner was resident in Hanover from September 1900 to October 1907, after 1902 with visits, sometimes fairly lengthy, elsewhere.

3 Dear Friends

5 I’ve only just found out you sent me the eggs. They are lovely. We
6have them for breakfast every morning. I have no servant now even for
7washing pots &c & they are a great help because one can boil them all
8at once & have them cold. It’s windy cold weather here but it’s so
9nice having my darling back again.
