Dear Friend

No its not true I have a guard personally round the house. A guard of
six men is here every night just out side my window, but they are
supposed to be guarding the town generally. Your letter of Sunday has
only just come, 6 days old. There is no talk of peace here yet: they
increasing the fortifications round the town, & the patrols & guards
are out all day. Of course we know nothing of what is happening even
just outside the town.

Good bye dear. My love to you both. Give my love to Mary Sauer.

Yours ever
Olive
