4 Dear Friend
5
6 I hear my sister Mrs Stakesby Lewis is going to England. I wish Miss
7Greene
could go to speak the truth.
8
9 I have got a nice room up here, but at the end of next week I’m
10going to Hanover, I’ve heard of a nice room there at just the same
11price I pay here. It’s said to be splendid air there. It’s over
125000 feet high.
13
14 I haven’t written for the last couple of days because I haven’t
15been good even for that. I’m not ill, but so tired.
16
17 I hope the Freestaters & Transvaalers will have the wisdom not to come
18into any of the colonial possessions. It will ruin their cause if they
19do. If they will fight on their own ground they may yet keep or get
20back their independence.
21
22 Good bye. Thank Miss Greene so much for her interesting letter I got
23last night. Your letters are of such value to me. There is no news in
24today’s papers are the lines up or cut again?
