I can’t make out what the politicians are about in Cape Town. Of
course I have not heard one word since I left, & I have not in the
last four months once seen the Cape Times or Argus. I was blankly
astonished when I got to Graaff Reinet to hear that Will was said to
be in favour of annexation, & can’t now believe it. On the other
hand I got terrible evidence that there was a "contract" on with
Rhodes & Sievewright. in certain quarters; rather than Milner, then
Sievewright is the feeling. I say neither for me, as long as the world
stands.

Good bye dear

PS Did you get my letter to Cron, & post it.

Do you think it would be any use if I came down & tried to see
Merriman & Sauer & Hoffmeyer & Will. Surely they ought to be able to
come to some understanding.

I’m very ill, worse than I was in Cape Town or I would some down now.
