6 I was very glad to receive your letter in the Argus – a paper I never
7see. If you write anything further send it me. Cron has been feeling
8so very much drawn towards Hofmeyr & Ons Land that it was with
9difficulty I restrained him from writing a long per letter to Hofmeyr,
10of congratulation & approval! He has however contented himself with
11writing a letter to Ons Land which I hope they will put in; I am
12anxious that at the present moment everything that can be done to show
13the Dutch throughout the country that there are some Englishmen who
14can rise above all race prejudice, & deal look at recent events
