Dear Fan,

Thank-you so for your nice long letter. Will tells me you are doing
some work at Cavendish Sq which I am glad of as I don’t like you to
be so much alone these times.

I hope you have good news from all your dear ones at the Cape. Give my
love to Violet & Frank when you write. Tell Violet I’ve just done up
the little motor cap she gave me.

It’s hard to have your heart divided between two countries on the
opposite sides of the world.

Dear May Parker sends greetings to you & Will. She’s the kind of
girl I should like Bill or Ollie to marry. So sweet & unselfish &
sympathetic. Her mother-in-law is coming here tomorrow for two days.

I am suffering a good deal of pain in my gums were the teeth were.
“Oh where & oh where are my very strong teeth gone!” They were so
strong I could crack the hardest nuts with them! We had rains & bitter
cold here the whole of last week so I hope tomorrow it will clear up.
Anyhow it’s much better than heat

I wonder if you & Will have heard anything of Emma. She said she was
giving up her house at Wimbledon and had not decided where she was
going to live. I must write to her.

Thanks for telling me my boxes are all right.

Good bye, dear.
Alles ten besten,
Olive

I had a letter from the dear faithful Minnie this week (Offie’s
wife). She says she finds it hard to put her thoughts to study in the
war time but she’s trying to stick to her law books. I hope you got
away this week end. One can only keep well in London if one gets away
sometimes.
