Legend
The Extracts of Letters to Cronwright-Schreiner were produced by Cronwright-Schreiner in preparing The Life and The Letters of Olive Schreiner. They appear on slips of paper in his writing, taken from letters that were then destroyed; many of these extracts have also been edited by him. They are artefacts of his editorial practices and their relationship to original Schreiner letters cannot now be gauged. They should be read with considerable caution for the reasons given. Cronwright-Schreiner has written the date and where it was sent from onto this extract, and that Olive Schreiner had also written about the projected newspaper, offering advice, suggestions and warnings.
1 …If you undertake the business management entirely, for at least the
2first six months, it will be a success. I have faith in your power of
3doing almost anything once you concentrate yourself on it. If you
4leave it to anyone else, it will most likely, certainly I think, be a
5failure... But starting the business side will take all even of your
6go & energy for the first few months!!!...
