Legend
The Project is grateful to the Harry Ransom Humanities Research Center, the University of Texas at Austin, for kindly allowing us to transcribe this Olive Schreiner letter, which is part of its Manuscript Collections. This letter has been dated by reference to an associated envelope and its postmark, which also provides the address it was sent to. Schreiner was resident in Blandford Square from mid October to mid December 1886. The final insertion is on the back of the envelope.
1My Havelock, Howard Hinton as you see is in prison; it is all lies,
2lies, lies. None of them speak the truth. In the end Howard speaks it
3as much as anyone.

5I am going down to Bow St now to be with Mrs. Wedon as she has no one
6else with her. She too is false but she is all alone. I think you
