William H. Dirks

William H. Dirks was a writer and also a colleague of Ernest Rhys’ at Walter Scott publishing company during the late 1880s, where Dirks worked with Rhys on the Camelot Classics Series which the latter was editing. Schreiner had agreed to write an ‘Introduction’ for a new Walter Scott edition of Mary Wollstonecraft’s A Vindication of the Rights of Woman but this was never completed. Her two extant letters to Dirks concern their business dealings, and in particular the details of the proposed Wollstonecraft introduction.
