4 Another post has come & not a word from you. I can’t help feeling
5anxious but perhaps you have gone abroad & then I know how the time
6passes, & how difficult it is to write.

8 I wrote my friend Lady Constance Lytton today & gave her your & Miss
9Greenes address & told her to write to you & perhaps you would be able
10to arrange to meet her in London. She has a beautiful transparent
11spirit, you must love her, & it will be so nice if you’ve seen her &
12Adela & Adela’s little ones. You don’t know how I love those two
13women, they are something to me as you & Miss Greene are, & I always
14think of them together they had such a long unbroken friendship. Of
15course they are cousins.

17 Cron is away visiting some farms on business & he will not be back
18till next Saturday. He has taken Ollie with him so Gobalie the
19meerkats & I are alone. My dear old brother Will is in London now. I
20do hope the good he has got from the Nauheim baths will continue. He
21has Oliver with him. He says every one loves Oliver wherever he goes.
22I wonder how things are going with your youngest sister. Is she at
23home now?

25 We have had splendid rains all over the country & if they continue
26perhaps things will improve & land be more saleable than it has been.
27Dr & Mrs Purcell are travelling about with the British Association. I
28call them the British asses, but I

30^don’t include the Purcells. It’s quite right we should give our
31own citizens free-passes if we like, but only we should cart about at
32our own expense this hord of useless society women & others. I don’t
33know. Not half of the body can under any stretching of the term be
34called men of science or women either ^
