Dear Friend

Have been up with bad asthma all night. If I’m so bad at Zuurberg
shall have to leave at once, as the doctors say a bad attack might now
be the end at any time. It wouldn’t not matter if that happened, but
each time one feels permanently worse & less fit for work. If I do get
asthma there I shall come down early tomorrow & shall wire to you so
that ^you^ get
the wire before 10 o’clock. If you don’t get that
wire tomorrow you will know I am staying on, & do come
.

I had a fine thought in the night. Cron is now writing the leaders for
the Bloemfontein paper. If he were to write a series of articles on
capitalism, nationalization of land & railways &c, we might issue them
as pamphlets or in book form (I think Ons Land would do it for us
cheap) & they might do much good as they would get to people who never
read the Free State papers. The sun has just risen I am always so
thankful when the night is over. Please if you do come bring me one ounce
of Citrate of Caffeine it’s 2/6 an ounce at Gardner’s. Miss Green
ought to join me at Cawoods, & she

^& I could hire a cart in Cradock & go & see Lily Kloof. I know I
should never live there, but I’ve so often thought what a lovely
place it would be for a school, so healthy & stimulating. Its just
about the same height as Hershell. ^
