3 I’m so sorry to hear that Mr Olly Poll has been unwell. I hope he’s
4alright again.

6 I had a letter from the Marriots this week; poor dear old Marriot has
7been very bad again. He ought not to have gone to India. Harry Gie was
8out here a fortnight ago; he looks wonderfully better. Perhaps we are
9going to England in November. If we do go we shall stay for a year &
10three months so as to escape the heat of two summers up here; but we
11may not go if the agent makes a satisfactory arrangement about the
12book without our going.
