6Thanks much for the two copies of Book. Please pay any money due to me
7to Mr Ellis not sending it here direct, as just now my movements are
8uncertain.

10How is it that Roberts Brothers does not give me a farthing for
11advanced sheets, they are paying me just the same percentage that some
12other American firms are kindly giving me, because they don’t feel
13it right to publish my book & give me nothing.
