The date of the letter has been derived from the postmark on an attached envelope, while the address it was sent to is on its front. Schreiner stayed briefly in Chester Square at the start of July 1897 and left there for Broadstairs.

1:  Dear Mrs Unwin
3:  Thank you for your kind invitation. I am going to Broadstairs tomorrow,
4:  & shall likely not be back in London for a couple of weeks, so cannot
5:  accept your invitation.
7:  Before we go to Germany I hope to be in London for a few days & I hope
8:  I may then have the pleasure of seeing you.
