My dear old sister

Tomorrow will be our Will’s birthday. I know what you will be
thinking of. Oh I am so glad dear, you are going back to Africa. You
couldn’t bear it here any more.

For me I feel when I think of your going like a ship wrecked mariner
on the shore of an island who sees the last of his fellows sailing
away – but I’m very glad you are going Your boy Bill will be a
comfort to you I know, & all the old friends will gather round you.

I’ll try to come on Sunday.
