9I’ve just heard from Charles Whitby that his son who was with the
10Canadians is missing. A comrade writes he was last seen at the battle
11at St Juliens, & has not been heard of since. As that place is now in
12the hands of the German’s he may be dead, wounded or a prisoner.
13Charles Whitbys old father died three weeks ago at Yoevill, suddenly.
14I’ve written to ask him if it was heart disease. I wonder if they
15the Lyndall side is troubled with it too

18at Nauheim. I am much better too.

20Our boy is on his long tramp now I suppose
