Dear Fan

Thank you for the group at St James & the photograph which I suppose
Emma sent me.

But I want so much to have those groups of you & the children ^that
Will had in GTown^. I have not a single photograph of any member of my
family, all were destroyed in Johannesburg. I have not one of any kind
of Fred even so send the those of you & the children.

Haven’t you a good photo of Will even if an old one you could spare
me? Did you get the letter I sent last week in answer to yours about
the sewing machine. We are having glorious weather here; cold, but
beautifully dry & clear. We are both very fit except that poor Cron
has toothache & there’s no one here to stop the tooth. The meerkats
& dogs are all well.

Good bye, dear. Take pity on my photograph-less condition. Love to my
old brother & the children Ach! but I long to see you all some times.

^Give my love to "Carry" if ever you write to her. I wonder if her last
baby but one is still such a lovely child.^
