Thank you, dear Friends, for your letters. The excitement here grows
higher & higher, but the real scene of the action is now in Cape Town
& in England, there Africa’s fate will be determined. If war breaks
out, or is upon us you & Miss Greene & Mrs Merriman and others must
send some women home to take home a petition & address public meetings
in England. Those who are sent home must be Englishwomen. Miss Greene
should take the lead.

Yesterday the news was rife in the town that Will & the others had
gone out & the Governor had sent for Innes. I think there is no truth
in it it is a Johannesburg lie. Your visit has made Johannesburg seem
more beautiful to me.
