The address this postcard was sent to and the addressee are on the front of the card; the year is provided by the postmark, although this is not fully legible. Schreiner was resident in De Aar from November 1907 until she left South Africa for Britain and Europe in December 1913, but with some fairly lengthy visits elsewhere over this time.

3 I wrote you a letter some time ago. As I can’t find it I suppose
4someone posted it while I was ill. I hope you got it. The spring is
5very late this year. It’s quite winter here still. I’ll write a
