5I feel you were quite right not to go. Don’t trouble your dear heart
6about it. I’m sure it was right.

8Do you know if Barkly ever writes to Betty? I nearly wrote to ask him
9to write a little letter of sympathy to her, but I don’t know his
10address & I didn’t like to – you could it it do it much better. A
11letter from him would be such a treasure to her. Nothing but love can
12help one in such times

14I got a lovely letter from dear Lucy (your uncle Charles’s wife)
15today. Oh how my heart longs to see them all in South Africa.
