My dear dear one,

I’m so grieved at your having ^had^ influenza & little Peters accident.
I know what one feels when one’s taking care of other people’s
children. I doubt whether parents ever realize what it means, & all
that those who do it are giving. Its much harder than looking after
your own.

You must get away for a long change when darling Lucy comes back.

Ruth Alexander is staying here at the Hotel now but comes up to see me
every day. It is so nice having her. Love to you both my dear dear
friends.
