Dear Mrs Murray

I have had the news that my husbands mother is to be operated on for
cancer of the breast (Don’t mention this as they are trying to keep
the dear old lady from the knowledge of what it is). If my husband
cannot go, I want to be there on Monday & want to ask you if it would
be possible for you to let me come to you for the two or three days I
shall be there. I would likely be at my sister-in-laws at Rondebosch
all day, but I must have some dry place to sleep at night. I’ve
written to Tamboer’s Kloof & else where, but in case they can’t
let me have a bedroom would it be very inconvenient to you if I came
to you?

If you could wire me on getting this I would be so glad, but don’t
mind at all if you can’t; because its quite likely they may wire
from the other places I’ve written to that they can have me.

I hope our meeting went off well.

In great haste

If I come I shall arrive by Sunday night’s train
