My dear Miss Sharpe

Thank you for your letter.

I think if Mr Lankester is asked to read a paper it should be by some
member of the committee. He has an enthusiastic admiration for Mr
Pearson
, which would make it more likely that he would be influenced
by his representations than those of any one else.

If asked to write it seems to me it should be on the evolution of sex
in the early forms of life. A true far reaching conception of sex can
only be formed when it’s development is understood: Such a paper
might throw a little light on it.

//I have not yet decided on what the subject of my note shall be but
shall certainly send one.

//Kindly show this letter to the members of the committee as
explaining why I do not ask Mr Lankester.

Yours very sincerely
Olive Schreiner
