I'm going really to answer your letter. I cant tonight. I shall think
of you when I'm lying in bed & wish you were here to talk to.

I've been able to work a little the last two days, of which I'm so
glad. I want so much to finish this book by the end of August. I don't
mind your showing the little story to any one provided it doesn't go
to England. I liked your letter so much.

Give my hearty friendly greetings to Ella Shippard. If I don't go away
if would be so lovely if she would come & spend some days with me when
the weather gets warmer. I should like it so much.

Jack, Mr Logan's dog, was found dead behind the wood house door the
other morning. We think he must have been frozen to death

^Do you know much of Mrs Gill? You & she would love each other so much,
if you could once get below each others surfaces.^

Notation
'This book' which Schreiner wanted to finish by the end of August is likely to be the 'sex book' which was destroyed when Schreiner's house in Johannesburg was badly damaged during the South African War; it was re-written as her two 'Woman' articles and then Woman and Labour.
